Best Walking Routes in Snowdonia National Park

Snowdonia National Park is a great destination for adventurous walkers and hikers, and home to some of the most rocky and exciting mountain routes in Britain.

Snowdonia attracts around 5 million visitors each year, with many of them heading for the summit of Snowdon – the highest mountain in England and Wales at 1085 metres. Snowdon’s popularity is well deserved, with some of Europe’s best mountain walks leading to its busy crown. There are 10 recognised routes to the summit, ranging from simple hillwalks to thrilling scrambling ridges. And if you want to save your legs, there’s even a train station at the top!

But there’s so much more to Snowdonia than just one mountain. Tryfan, the Glyderau, the Carneddau and the Nantlle Ridge are all hiking classics, while the Welsh 3000s is one of the best mountain challenges in Britain. Away from the mountains there are endless lakes and waterfalls to explore, plus a fascinating history covering everything from mining and mountaineering to the legend of King Arthur.
