Best Walking Routes in New Forest National Park

The New Forest National Park is a stunning place to discover on foot, with ancient woodlands, beautiful heathlands, pretty villages and 40 miles of ‘secret coast’ for walkers and hikers to discover.

Located in south-east England, just a short distance from major cities including Southampton, Bristol and even London, the New Forest has more than 140 miles of footpaths and bridleways to discover. The National Park’s walks range from easy-to-follow walking routes, short strolls and long-distance trails.

It’s common to see wild ponies, cattle, donkeys, pigs and deer roaming freely in the New Forest, with many of the most popular walks starting near the village of Brockenhurst – officially declared ‘Britain’s most beautiful place to live’.

Unsurprisingly, many of the New Forest’s best walks focus on woodland, with the leisurely stroll through Blackwater Arboretum one of the most popular and memorable in the National Park.
