Best Walking Routes near Nottingham

Located in the heart of England’s leafy East Midlands, Nottingham is surrounded by a huge of network of walks suitable for all ages and abilities.

The most obvious place to walk and hike in Nottinghamshire is Sherwood Forest National Nature Reserve, made famous by legendary outlaw Robin Hood and home to spectacular woodlands and diverse wildlife. There are plenty of trails to choose from through in Sherwood Forest, ranging from long hikes and mountain bike trails to short family strolls.

But there’s more to Nottingham and its surrounding countryside than Robin Hood. With five beautiful country parks, nature reserves, river walks and city trails, you’ll have almost too many routes to choose from. And if you want to explore slightly further afield, the Peak District National Park and the National Forest are both just a short drive away.
