Description

A 7 mile walk around Bonsall moor and Winster area. Park on Roadside Pull-in on Nailor Lane beside old Barn between Bonsall & Brightgate. Generally Flat but with one descent down to Winster and a short climb after that. Lots of open grassy fields with occasional rocky areas but nothing too challenging for the average walker. Lots of stiles around route, so be aware if you are taking a heavy dog that can't jump very high! There is some beautiful scenery through the walk which crosses old lead mining areas and lovely wildflower meadows. Great view at Wyns Tor looking down to the village of Winster. Some good potential wildlife sightings along the way. I have seen Peregrine,Wheatear, Redstart, Curlew, Skylark, Meadow Pipit and heard Quail calling. Wildflowers include Early Purple Orchid, Bee Orchid, Meadow Saxifrage, Cowslip and many more.
